In Krasnoyarsk, an airport and the state opera and ballet theatre are named after Dmitri Hvorostovsky. At this theatre Dmitri Hvorostovsky was a soloist from 1985 to 1990. Krasnoyarsk is Hvorostovsky's native city: here he studied at a music school and in the music department of a teacher training college, and later in the vocal faculty of the Krasnoyarsk Institute of Arts, which now also bears Hvorostovsky's name, and a monument to the outstanding opera singer stands at the institute.
