At the end of September the Vatican Apostolic Library will open AQVA, an exhibition from its new cycle "Catastrophe and Miracle". The cycle is based on Gaetano Volpi's treatise "On the Passion for Books" of 1756, which lists five threats to the book: water, fire, light, damage by animals and damage by man.
The first theme is water. Three people are working on the project: the French artist JR, the American typographer Bill Moran and the Italian chef Fulvio Pierangelini. The exhibition is timed to coincide with the 470th anniversary of the treatise on fishes by the physician Ippolito Salviani, printed in Rome in 1557 at the expense of the library itself.
