There is a legend that in the eighteenth century one of Isaac Newton's teeth was sold in London for several hundred pounds, in those days the price of a decent house. At some point, it is said, the owner of the relic had the tooth set in a gold ring and wore it as a talisman of wisdom.
Perhaps the ornament was supposed to bring its wearer the genius of Newton himself.
Since then the tooth has vanished without trace, and not a single image of the ring has survived, so the whole story may well be an invention. But perhaps the relic still exists somewhere, and its owner simply has not yet managed to discover the law of universal gravitation
