Today the Andrei Cheglakov Foundation on Prechistenka opens a solo exhibition by Boris Kocheishvili, “Cloud, Lake, Tower”, marking the artist's 85th birthday

Boris Kocheishvili is one of the most important artists of the 1970s generation, a nonconformist and a solitary figure who shuns artistic expediency in his work. Although recognition came to him fairly early, he has consistently defended his right to independence and developed his own artistic system free of institutional pressure. The title of the exhibition alludes to Vladimir Nabokov's story of the same name, whose central conflict is built between the public and the individual.

The display occupies two floors of the Foundation. The first holds delicate architectural drawings and sculptural reliefs, the works that formed the central theme of Kocheishvili's solo exhibition at the Tretyakov Gallery in 2021. His most recent graphic works are shown here too. On the second floor are large-format paintings of recent years and graphic works of the 2010s.

A special part of the project is the chance to visit Kocheishvili's studio in Chisty Lane, where for decades the artist has created his own creative universe. In the studio one can see works not included in the exhibition and, above all, talk to the artist himself.
