The monument to Pushkin by the sculptor Leopold Bernstam was erected in the town of Pushkin, at the intersection of Oktyabrsky Boulevard, Dvortsovaya Street and Peterburgskoye Highway, in July 1938
During the Great Patriotic War, when the town was occupied by German troops, who destroyed and damaged many structures of the ensemble, this monument also suffered badly. The monument came under fire, and its bronze bore numerous bullet marks: by the restorers' count, more than 140 dents.
The sculpture was restored in 1949
