I usually pictured Bacchus as a hideous fatty, more like the Hedonism Bot from Futurama than a youth of idyllic beauty. Tullio Lombardo's Bacchus and Ariadne force one to revise the customary view of the ancient god, who here truly looks divine. In this work by Lombardo one can make out traces of Donatello and Mantegna, but his exquisite style is quite recognisable all the same

Until 1932 Tashkent had a church of Saint Sergius of Radonezh. It was built at the state's expense on the initiative of the Governor-General of Turkestan, Baron Alexandr Vrevsky, and the construction cost 90,000 roubles. The church stood on Pushkinskaya Street, at the junction with Assakinskaya.
