My favourite pig in the history of world culture, apart from Babe the piglet, of course, is the charming porker of Anthony of Egypt in a late seventeenth-century sculpture in Segovia Cathedral. Just look at this sweet pig with the little spot on its snout! ❤️🐽 Saint Anthony has been shown with a pig since roughly the fifteenth century. The pig may symbolise the demon whom Anthony managed to tame and make his faithful companion; the saint's piglet may also allude to the swine that the Order of Antonines had the right to raise and pasture duty-free; besides, the saint's name is tied to pigs through certain skin diseases, known as Saint Anthony's fire, which it was customary to treat with pork lard. Be that as it may, this is the cutest little piggywig in the world, at least the Christian one)
