Yaroslavl mayor bans foreign words on street signs except registered trademarks

The Mayor of Yaroslavl has banned the use of foreign words on street signs. Similar rules are already in force in Saratov and Krasnodar.

The ban does not apply to registered trademarks. That is, if foreign words appear in a name, the sign may stay as it is. Though what whim, one wonders, possesses people to put foreign words in names at all?

But where the words are not part of a brand, for example barbershop, hotel, coffee, open and so on, they will have to be replaced with Russian ones.
