Mantle of the Grand Master of the Royal and Distinguished Spanish Order of Charles III
Mantle of the Grand Master of the Royal and Distinguished Spanish Order of Charles III. This is the second most important order in Spain after the Order of the Golden Fleece. The mantle belonged to King Ferdinand VIl. It is made of light blue silk in honour of the Virgin Mary and covered with stars and emblems of the monarch embroidered in silver.
Inside the cross, supported by the Bourbon heraldic fleur-de-lis embroidered on the left side of the mantle over the heart, one can see a small image of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.
