So, what became of the treasures of Notre-Dame de Paris? What has survived?

The Holy Crown of Thorns

It came to France as a gift to Louis IX in 1238. The Crown of Thorns, with several thorns removed (and dispatched to various corners of the world), is kept in a vessel of rock crystal.

The North Rose Window

One of the largest stained-glass windows, the great rose on the north façade of Notre-Dame, was not damaged.

The Great Organ

The organ, made up of 8,000 pipes, was saved. Built in 1403, it still contains several medieval pipes.

The Tunic of Saint Louis

The linen tunic of the 13th century is believed to have belonged to Louis the Saint (canonised in 1297).

The Descent from the Cross sculpture

One of the central statues from the altar of Notre-Dame. The sculpture has survived, but its condition is unclear.
