Art historian and curator Anna Romanova recalls on her page the 2019 exhibition "From the Ant's Point of View", dedicated to Rezo Gabriadze:
"Masha Ovchinnikova and Vadim Ginzburg suggested that I take on an exhibition of Rezo Gabriadze and four Moscow women artists with whom Rezo had enjoyed a friendship of many years. Much in Rezo's life was tied to Moscow. He staged plays here (for a time he even served as chief director at the Obraztsov Theatre), wrote with Daneliya the screenplays for their incredible films, illustrated books by Bitov and Zhvanetsky, and worked in ceramics. Liya Orlova, Maria Ovchinnikova, Sasha Lunyakova and Irina Livshits were not merely friends of Rezo but considered themselves his pupils, and had long dreamt of mounting an exhibition with the maestro. All of the artists were united by a kindred view of the world from the standpoint of some small creature: an ant, a bird, the old nag in whose name Gabriadze always spoke in his productions. The idea of the exhibition came of its own accord. Happily, Rezo approved it, and it all came together."
