The installation La Caverne du Pont-Neuf on the Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge in Paris
On the night of 20 to 21 May 2026 the bridge was covered by an inflatable structure of printed fabric depicting snow-covered cliffs, 120 metres long and about 18 metres high.
Its form was inspired by the quarries from which the stone used to build Paris was extracted. But the structure itself is an homage to Christo and Jeanne-Claude, who in 1985 wrapped the Pont Neuf in sand-coloured fabric.
Unlike Christo's project, this time the bridge is not wrapped in fabric but hidden beneath a three-dimensional structure, which visitors will be able to enter and walk right through from 6 to 28 June 2026.
