Bonhams announces the sale of 550 lots from the personal effects of Diane Keaton, who died six months ago
Among the lots are the original script of "Annie Hall" with no title on the cover (estimate $2,000-3,000), a Ralph Lauren Purple Label houndstooth jacket ($200-300), and works from her collection: Rauschenberg, Ed Ruscha, Annie Leibovitz, Jack Nicholson. Also her own collages and photographs, books from her personal library arranged by colour, letters from actors and directors, and scripts of "The Godfather", "Father of the Bride" and "Baby Boom". And a metal staircase from her house in Sullivan Canyon. On its steps stand her books, a clock, a hat and a flowerpot, with an estimated value of $1,000-1,500.
Keaton belonged to the last generation of Hollywood stars who managed to form themselves before the acting profession finally merged with the influencer industry. Her style in "Annie Hall", the men's jackets, ties and bowler hats, was not a costume designer's costume. It was her own clothing, which the costume designer Ruth Morley simply did not touch, having realised that she had before her something more interesting than any invented image. Now one of her Ralph Lauren jackets can be had, with a bit of luck, for 300 bucks.
