This is already the fifth handover of stolen antiquities of the Gandhara period to the South Asian country. Pakistan's Consul General in New York stated that the artefacts will go to museum collections across the country.

The return of stolen artefacts to Pakistan specifically from the United States is a rather pressing matter: for several years now proceedings have been under way in the case of the Indian-born American art dealer Subhash Kapoor, implicated in the sale of at least hundreds of stolen artefacts. To date, 192 antiquities have been returned on his transactions alone, as well as more than 200 works of art stolen in Asian countries that had been held in his keeping.
