Anglican Bishop Cairion Hugh Dewar Publishes an Open Letter to King Charles III, Urging Him to Play More Actively His Traditional Role as Defender of the Christian Faith and to Pay Particular Attention to Preserving Britain's Christian Heritage

In the bishop's view, Christianity in the country is gradually losing its influence in public life, while its symbols and values are ever more often criticised or pushed out of the public sphere. He voiced concern that the country may lose its historical religious foundation and turn into a post-Christian society.

A curious turn of phrase for a country where people are prosecuted for reading the Bible in the street.

Dewar's appeal, naturally, does not represent the official position of the Church of England or of the British state; they, for their part, have no intention of raising their voice on behalf of Christians.
