On tient pour acquis que le 17 janvier 1492, le premier manuel de grammaire moderne fut présenté à Isabelle Ire. Or le premier ouvrage de ce genre, arabe et non espagnol, fut composé dès le VIIIe siècle par le Persan Sibawayh.
