# La tête d'Henri IV, séparée du corps lors du pillage de l'abbaye de Saint-Denis

Puisqu'il est question de crânes perdus, d'autres restes aristocratiques sont eux aussi demeurés décapités. L'abbaye fut pillée pendant la Révolution française ; les corps des monarques qui y reposaient furent tirés des caveaux et jetés dans une fosse commune. Henri IV, qui dormait là depuis 180 ans, n'échappa pas à l'outrage : sa tête fut séparée du corps, et, des siècles plus tard, elle passe encore d'une main à l'autre.
