Petit singe du Nouveau Monde, l'ouakari chauve, ou cacajao occidental, est appelé au Brésil de façon bien plus simple : macaco ingles, c'est-à-dire « singe anglais ». La rumeur populaire a fort justement relevé la ressemblance extérieure de cet habitant des forêts tropicales d'Amazonie avec les colons anglais, surtout après quelques jours passés au soleil
