Constantin Somov, Le Boxeur. 1933.

Somov émigra aux États-Unis en 1923, mais n'y resta qu'un an. C'est à Paris que l'artiste russe trouva un nouveau foyer : il y illustra les vers de Pouchkine et y peignit surtout des portraits.

Le boxeur est Boris Snejkovski, dix-neuf ans, un modèle devenu un proche ami de Somov, en particulier après la mort de son compagnon Méthode Loukianov, et qui l'accompagnait souvent à l'opéra, au théâtre et dans les expositions.

En 2007, le portrait a été vendu chez Christie's pour £580500
