# Le chirurgien Samuel de Pozzi dans le portrait peint par John Singer Sargent en 1881

Le chirurgien français Samuel-Jean de Pozzi (1846-1918) est parfois compté parmi les plus beaux hommes de son temps. Du temps de ses études, il avait même reçu le surnom de Sirène. La vie de Pozzi fut des plus pittoresques, et ce n'est pas un hasard si le dernier roman de Julian Barnes est consacré à cet homme en robe de chambre rouge. Ce portrait de Samuel de Pozzi dans son appartement parisien a été peint par John Singer Sargent en 1881.
