# La mer d'Aral n'apparaît sur les cartes de l'Asie qu'à la toute fin du XVIIe siècle

La mer d'Aral n'apparaît sur les cartes de l'Asie qu'à la toute fin du XVIIe siècle. Et nombre d'atlas, même plus tardifs, comme cet atlas de Sanson, continuent de représenter la Caspienne comme à la place de deux mers : on y note qu'à l'est se jettent dans la Caspienne le Syr-Daria et l'Amou-Daria, qui alimentaient en réalité la mer d'Aral
