22 septembre 1819, le poète romantique anglais John Keats écrivit dans son journal : « À propos de plaisir, j'écrivais à l'instant d'une main tandis que de l'autre je portais à ma bouche un brugnon — mon Dieu, quel délice ! Il était tendre, charnu, juteux — sa chair exquise fondait dans ma bouche comme une grosse fraise divine »
