The Scrovegni Chapel in Padua, built on the site of an ancient Roman arena, houses the first cycle of frescoes indisputably attributed to Giotto. In the scene of the meeting, Giotto presents a rare and apocryphal subject: the kiss of the parents of the Mother of God, Joachim and Anne, expressing the touching reunion of the spouses
