A story comes to mind, told on the word of a participant in the events, which took place in the capital in early 1888\. It concerns Isidore, Metropolitan of Novgorod, Saint Petersburg and Finland, who had conducted the funeral service for Alexander II and crowned Alexander III, and who was in general one of the most respected prelates of the Russian Church. In conversation with an acquaintance, Metropolitan Isidore expressed concern at the thinness of the man's wife and advised him by all means to take her to the waters for the recovery of her health. It turned out, however, that his interlocutor had a healing spring of his own on his estate in Perm. On learning this, Isidore recommended taking the wife to that spring in Perm, explaining that women understand nothing of geography in any case and are quite easily deceived, all the more so if there are mountains there: she will readily believe that it is Italy.
