# Caryatids of the house at 3 Znamenka, built in 2002, and the Erechtheion canon

To all who categorically despise the so-called Luzhkov architecture, I want to show this house at 3 Znamenka, built in 2002\. There was a separate story there, about how a certain artist, A. Shilov, was granted two plots at once in the very heart of the city, and two buildings from the early 19th century were demolished to make way for his gallery, but that is not the point. In my view, the caryatids are very attractive. In one of the temples of the Athenian Acropolis a canon emerged whereby a caryatid has one leg slightly bent at the knee; depending on the position in the structure, the straight leg was to face the outer side of the portico, so as to emphasise the vertical at the corners. Here, as you can see, the order of the Erechtheion has been violated. But the building is no less suited to the ensemble of the street for that
