Now that is what I call a cult film: in the mysterious and faintly sinister, very 1930s mansion of Grey Gardens live, in secluded and extravagant style, Jackie Kennedy's cousin Edith Bouvier Beale (Little Edie) and her extraordinary mother Edith Ewing Bouvier (Big Edie). Two society lionesses, by now in a thoroughly well-thumbed condition, recall their brilliant New York youth and former glory: recluses surrounded by antiques, portraits in gilded frames, cats and spiders. A wildly interesting and altogether inspiring film, which I shall certainly be rewatching today. Thank you for the tip. After her mother's death, Little Edie would even go on to dance in cabaret, at the age of 60-plus, naturally 👵🏼💃🏼
