**The All-Russian Museum of Decorative Art has opened the exhibition "**[Writing in Fire. The Art of Enamel](https://damuseum.ru/exhibitions/ognennoe-pismo-iskusstvo-emali/?ref=theparnassian.com)**"**, a large-scale project devoted to one of the most difficult and beautiful branches of the decorative arts.

The display brings together masterpieces of the enameller's art from museum and private collections, and offers a rare chance to trace the development of artistic enamel from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century. Under one roof meet the Russian and Limoges schools, pieces by Fabergé and Ovchinnikov, works by Princess Tenisheva, Rostov finift, and rare exhibits, many of them shown for the first time.

Particular attention is due to the Limoges enamels of the twelfth century, to works of the "Russian Style" era, and to objects connected with the history of the imperial family, such as the Ovchinnikov firm's stopa (drinking cup), presented by Nicholas II to a Persian prince.
