# A world assembly on artificial intelligence and nuclear war has been held in the Vatican

Presumably the padres are watching lifelike scenes of nuclear apocalypse and worldwide drought, caused by the data centres of the AI tech giants, through their VR goggles.

The Papal Gardens of Castel Gandolfo welcomed 30 Nobel laureates, representatives of 30 countries, former heads of state, 20 leading AI specialists and delegates from more than 30 universities and research centres.

Evidently, the discussion was built around Pope Leo XIV's encyclical Magnifica humanitas, on the protection of human dignity in the age of artificial intelligence.

And what is the upshot? The upshot is that the esteemed ladies and gentlemen will sign a Rome Declaration on a disarmed and disarming world in the age of AI, nuclear and autonomous weapons, somewhere on the Capitoline Hill, in the Hall of Julius Caesar. And in time humanity will realise that the arbiters of technological ethics were, it turns out, merely the scenery of an old order that no longer works
