In place of the ancient and classical philosophy of Aristotle, Socrates, Kant and Russell, whom it has dubbed "armchair scholars", students are to be taught the philosophy of contemporary Asian and African thinkers, among them an Indian-American feminist, a Nigerian "theorist of the gender question" and a Japanese expert on Zen Buddhism.
