*"On Monday I dine at home on a small quantity of soup, a cutlet, eggs and a little glass of port; then I spend nearly the whole day writing; in the evening, that is at 9 o'clock, I go to Princess Boris. Nothing is yet decided as to dinner on Tuesday: I may dine somewhere I do not often go; in the evening I return home. On Wednesday I dine at Countess Stroganova's and sup at her mother's. On Thursday dinner at Princess Yusupova's and the evening at the Guryevs'. On Friday dinner at Princess Boris's, and since on that day she receives again in the evening, I contrive to slip away to my corner at home. On Saturday I dine at Mr Litta's, play boston there and in the evening betake myself to Princess Vladimir. On Sunday dinner again at Princess Boris's, and the evening at the Guryevs'."*
