The Tretyakov Gallery's Engineering Building has closed a large and very rich [exhibition](https://www.tretyakovgallery.ru/upload/medialibrary/a7b/7q7d04bpbvh74jf6qsnnuv179x4qo89z.pdf?ref=theparnassian.com) of Tatyana Mavrina (1900-1996), a pupil of Falk, better known to the public for her numerous illustrations, above all of Pushkin and of Russian fairy tales. But besides illustrations, Mavrina, who studied at Vkhutemas, was the author of a great many first-rate paintings, and she has gone down in the history of art as a member of the artistic association “13”. It was above all for her painting of the pre-war period, at last brought together in one place, that “Ode to Joy”, which spans the artist's whole, very long creative life, was worth seeing. Tatyana Mavrina's manner, impressionistic and in places Fauvist, bright, rich and energetic, does not merely seize the attention but wins the heart. One wants to look again and again
