# State Duma passes in first reading a bill banning images of places of worship and religious objects stripped of their religious symbols

The State Duma has passed in first reading a bill banning the use of images of places of worship and religious objects without their religious symbols. The ban is to apply to the media, the internet, advertising, goods, signage, and state and municipal emblems.

Thank God, and about time! But it is sad that such a law should have been needed at all. Let me remind you that in 2023 an image of a church without a cross appeared even on the 1,000-rouble banknote.
