# England Has Mislaid Its "Russian" Princess, Alexandra of Kent

England has mislaid its "Russian" princess, Alexandra of Kent. The 84-year-old Alexandra is the younger sister of the head of English Freemasonry, Edward, Duke of Kent, and the elder sister of the scandal-prone Michael of Kent; as the daughter of the fourth son of King George V, she is a first cousin of Elizabeth II. On her mother's side, through Marina, Duchess of Kent, Princess Alexandra is a great-great-granddaughter of Emperor Alexander II. Never the most media-friendly of royals, Princess Alexandra is rightly considered the most industrious member of the English royal family, presiding over and patronising more than 100 organisations and, since the 1950s, taking part in an average of 120 official engagements a year, and in just 12 last year. Until 2012, moreover, her annual allowance came to £225,000\. Yet since July 2020 the "glamorous princess", as the press calls her, has not performed a single official duty, thereby reducing the royal "staff" to 11 people from 15, counting those who have abandoned their family obligations, Prince Andrew and Harry with Meghan. I hope she is well, and that the rumours of illness are false.
