In the 1920s the husband of the Danish-born actress Asta Nielsen, then enormously famous, in Russia at any rate, wrote to Alexandr Kamenka, producer at Paris's largest Russian film studio, Albatros, incidentally as…

"My name is Grigory Mikhailovich Khmara... My wife is Asta Nielsen... I shall permit myself to make a proposal... The role of the father in this novella... Only because I shall accompany my wife in any case... I played Raskolnikov and Christ."

There is a good film on Kultura about the very Russian Hollywood of Paris. I recommend [watching](https://tvkultura.ru/brand/show/brand%5Fid/28986/?ref=theparnassian.com) it.
