Rents in Paris Are About to Go Through the Roof.

France's Council of State has annulled several decrees regulating rents in Paris at a stroke. In effect, a blow has been dealt to the neo-Bolshevik course of the Paris city hall. The National Union of Property Owners is jubilant: state control of rents is no more. The system had been in force for at least five years and provoked a great many lawsuits from landlords. Experts, for their part, had noted the drying-up of the rental market as a result of the rent-regulation acts passed in those years.

Naturally, this is no boon to tourists: the already gargantuan price tag even for very modest lodgings in the French capital will doubtless very soon climb higher still.

But what is interesting is something else: how soon after Trump's victory the European regimes began shaking the froth of leftist views off themselves, and, moreover, first and foremost in the most monetary of matters.

Still, only one thing worries me. God grant that on my next visit I shall at least not be lodged in some garret-top cubbyhole in the Latin Quarter 🙏🏻
