In the year of its centenary, the Library of Foreign Literature has at last opened the restored late eighteenth-century house at Nikoloyamskaya, 6\. The whole official upper crust of culture turned out for the occasion: the minister, deputies, heads of federal agencies, directors of institutions. Even Vladimir Medinsky sent a note of congratulation.

As for me, I modestly sampled a slice of the main building, which tasted of the famous oval hall where, if memory serves, the Globus literary prize was once awarded. I have been savouring the opening for a week now. As they say, to your health and ours.
