The book "A Gift to Young Housewives, or A Means of Reducing Household Expenses" by Elena Ivanovna Molokhovets was the most famous and influential cookery book in nineteenth-century Russia. After its first edition in 1861 it went through more than 25 reprints, remaining a popular and authoritative culinary publication even more than a hundred years later.
