Prince Philip's aunt and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna's niece, Queen Louise of Sweden (1889-1965), née Battenberg, often visited London, and once a bus very nearly ran her down. After this unpleasantness, Queen Louise, when walking the streets of London, always carried with her a small card bearing the printed words "I am the Queen of Sweden", so that people would know who she was should she ever be knocked down by a car.

This fear was probably reinforced by the story of the death of King Frederick VII of Denmark, who went for a stroll in Hamburg and died there on a bench. He was found in the city morgue. Nobody knew who he was.
