# It is odd that the President of Finland, sitting before Trump, recalls that the Finns found a solution in 1944

It is odd that the President of Finland, sitting before Trump, recalls that the Finns found a solution in 1944\. After all, in the autumn of 1944 Finland, which had fought on the side of Nazi Germany and had been defeated by the USSR, first entered into negotiations on a ceasefire and later signed the Moscow Armistice between Finland on the one side and the USSR and Great Britain on the other. The agreement obliged Finland to break its alliance with Germany, to remove German troops from the country's territory and to begin military operations against the German army. As a result, on 15 September 1944 the Lapland War began: Finland's military operations against the German troops retreating from its territory
