Standing between Henri Matisse's "Moroccan Triptych" and Pavel Kuznetsov's "Mirage in the Steppe". Thanks are due to the curators of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, and of course to the great Russian patrons, the Morozovs, for placing on a single wall the splendid Pavel Varfolomeyevich Kuznetsov and Matisse, who influenced him, the connection being here as plain as can be. The collection of Mikhail and Ivan Morozov is not only a world treasury of the visual arts but also a visible reference book on the evolution of painting and the mutual influence of great artists. In this same hall, a little to the left, hangs the remarkable pairing of Matisse and Saryan
