Tonight's viewing is Kirill Serebrennikov's ["Stalin's Funeral"](https://youtu.be/z5H9JZhoMW8?ref=theparnassian.com). This documentary production is not only, nor even chiefly, about Stalin and his burial. It is about people living in terror, about the inner answers to the most painful questions, about the eternal matter of choice and, however grand it may sound, the historical fate of Russia. I would draw your attention to the words of Alexei Agranovich in the opening minutes of the performance, to the effect that this is not 1937, and invite you to ponder: is that really so?
