Today is a very important day for Russian archaeology, historical science and culture: at long last the petroglyphs of Karelia, thousands of Neolithic rock carvings on the shores of the White Sea and Lake Onega, have been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site, among the most astonishing in the world. I congratulate the research teams who work with these sites and who devoted years of their lives to bringing this day closer! I trust that Pegtymel and Sikachi-Alyan are next in the UNESCO queue.
