Since everyone is so delighted with the Soviet "Lord of the Rings" that Channel Five has put online, I suggest watching the Soviet ["Hobbit"](https://youtu.be/v7Sab9LgUxg?ref=theparnassian.com) as well, with a more starry cast and a truly epic Gollum. Zinovy Gerdt is the narrator, Ivan Krasko is Gandalf, Mikhail Danilov is the Hobbit. The television play ["The Guardians"](https://youtu.be/vquKyNdgH3s?ref=theparnassian.com), which appeared on YouTube today, was adapted for the screen in 1991, whereas the television play "The Fairy-Tale Journey of Mr Bilbo Baggins, Hobbit, through the Wild Country, the Black Forest and the Misty Mountains. There and Back Again. After John Tolkien's fairy-tale story 'The Hobbit'" was filmed as early as 1985, and had been staged at the Saint Petersburg Theatre for Young Spectators (TYuZ) in 1979.
