Built in the first half of the twentieth century not far from Rome, the Villa Volpi still stirs connoisseurs of architectural styles with its neo-Palladian atmosphere, created against the fashion of the day by the architect Tomaso Buzzi in the heyday of modernism on the shore of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The patrons were the founder of the Venice Film Festival, Giuseppe Volpi di Misurata, and his wife, Countess Nathalie. The villa may perhaps seem wrenched out of its context, yet, looking at it, many will understand why the neoclassical style is a synonym for balance. The interiors are adorned with copies of bronze furniture from Pompeii and striking details, such as props from the film “Cleopatra”. Stars of the cinema and of bohemia came here, and sumptuous evenings were given; after Nathalie's death the villa passed to her son Giovanni, who has put it up for sale in our own day and drawn the attention of lovers of unique properties from all over the world.
