Pope Francis has learned the findings of the French report on child abuse in the Church, and has called it "a moment of shame"

"Shame on me, shame on us, for the Church's far too long inability to place the victims at the centre of our attention," Francis I said in response to the report.

According to the Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni, Pope Francis considers the findings of the report with sorrow, thinking first of all of the victims, reflecting with deep sadness on their wounds, and grateful for their courage in speaking out.

Let me remind you that it is largely thanks to the course set by Pope Francis that today's investigations have become possible. In May 2019 the Pope issued a groundbreaking Church law requiring all Catholic priests and nuns to report to Church authorities any cases of sexual abuse known to them, as well as the concealment of such facts by clergy, including by Church superiors. In June Francis spoke of the need for reforms, and of the personal responsibility of every bishop for this "catastrophe".
