# The Ascension of the Lord falls on 9 May for Catholics and 13 June for the Orthodox

He was taken up before their eyes, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven.

The Ascension of the Lord, when Jesus ascended into heaven in the flesh, is marked on the 40th day after Easter. For Catholics this year the Ascension falls on 9 May; the Orthodox will observe it on 13 June.
