# Once, at a job interview, I was asked how I understood the phrase "from dream to realisation is but one step"

Once, at a job interview, I was asked how I understood the phrase "from dream to realisation is but one step". To be honest, I don't understand it at all. It is one step from dream to realisation only if, say, your dream is to get up off the sofa and take a step. Then everything does indeed add up. Otherwise, any worthwhile undertaking requires not one step but purposeful effort and action, not confined to a few movements. All the same, it is pleasant to see good ideas finally find a sensible realisation instead of remaining at the stage of mere projects.

In February I [wrote](https://theparnassian.com/v-rossii-mozhet-poiavitsia-pervaia-premiia-dlia-administrativnykh-kadrov-v-oblasti-kultury/?ref=theparnassian.com) that Russia might acquire a prize for administrative personnel in the sphere of culture; at the time the project was being discussed within an educational programme of the Meganom Academy. Well, half a year has passed, and we see that the National Prize is no longer under discussion but has been established, and is now accepting applications for the title of the best managers in the cultural sphere. Thus, before our very eyes and within a reasonable span of time, what was not merely the dream of a certain circle of people has come true, and one more real instrument has appeared for shaping the country's cultural space.

Heads of cultural institutions, departments and educational programmes, and leaders of creative projects and collectives are invited to take part in the competition. If among your acquaintances and colleagues there are such people, do not hesitate to send them to compete for the prize! The main criteria of assessment are the significance of the projects carried out, the durability of the results and the possibility of replicating the practices.
