New York's odious mayor and his wife have already managed to publish a children's book about themselves. How sweet they are, how sugary and cartoonish. They tell the story of their wedding in the subway.

On the one hand, they go on constructing the myth of the self-made prince from the slums, defender of the dispossessed, acquainted at first hand with the burdens of the poor man's lot. Though it is well known that he was born into a wealthy society family, his mother is a film director, they have a townhouse in the West Village, he has never worked a day in his life, as so often happens with the children of the rich, he tried his hand at rapping, it did not work out, and so he became mayor.

The young couple did meet, after all, not on public transport but on the dating app Hinge, whose slogan is "designed to be deleted", though these days people say "designed to be in a psychiatric dispensary".

American political and PR technologies are a most curious thing. The newly baked mayor posts a video of himself eating some national rice with his bare hands, practically off a subway seat, yet the very next day he goes with his wife to a Michelin-starred restaurant.

As for the book, it is simply crude indoctrination from the earliest years in favour of the good, right-thinking elites of the future. Remember how first-grade primers used to work Lenin and Stalin into the lessons? It is the same with them, except that in place of little Ulyanov "with the curly head", the hipster children of New York will get kindly Uncle Zohran, who promised free travel on the underground.
