What does the sudden appearance in circulation of five-rouble notes dated 1997, yet perfectly new, tell us? When I first saw one, I thought it a collector's rarity, but at the till they told me that five-rouble notes had become plentiful.

*upd a obscurantist from among the subscribers has clarified the matter of the 5-rouble notes:*

*It is all very simple. These notes were printed and kept in storage. After 2022 they were put into circulation (technically, these 5-rouble notes were already in use with us, but each individual note is put into circulation by its number and withdrawn in the same way; that is how the money supply is regulated. For popular notes à la the 100-rouble one, it is an automatic process) and sent by the wagonload to the new regions. As far as I know, no new ones are being printed*
