First and foremost, Bardot spoke of the “barbarians, bastards, vile, rotten monsters” who inflict suffering on animals. She recalled, among other things, the shocking tragedy of the bloody slaughter of 1,428 cetaceans in a fjord in the Faroe Islands; on this occasion she wrote to the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, of her extreme outrage and disgust.

Last year she rescued a mare, Mitty, who had been subjected to dreadful cruelty.

Of the French authorities Brigitte says the following: “I have met all the presidents, all the ministers, and got nothing.” Valéry Giscard d'Estaing did not help her to protect seal pups in Canada. François Mitterrand was worse still: obsessed with the Louvre pyramid, he simply ignored the problems of animal protection. Emmanuel Macron is “an absolute zero”, hoodwinked by bloodthirsty hunters
